Conference: "Opportunities and Challenges for Cultural Heritage Values" | Viet Nam

The Ho Chi Minh City University of Vietnam, in partnership with the Southern Institute of Social Sciences and the Ho Chi Minh City Institute for Development Studies, and under the patronage of ICCROM, is holding a conference entitled “International Integration of Conservation: Opportunities and Challenges for Cultural Heritage Values”. It will be held on 30 November at the Southern Institute of Social Sciences, in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam. The conference will serve as a platform to connect individuals and organizations; it also aims to form ideas and build international cooperation in the conservation and promotion of cultural heritage values. A call for papers is currently open.

Themes

Cultural heritage is a valuable asset for every nation, its people and communities. The field of heritage conservation is broad and includes many perspectives, and this makes the protection and promotion of cultural values complex. In the general trend of integrating conservation at an international level, activities to protect and promote values have done much to highlight humanity’s achievements. However, various issues have also come to light in relation to viewpoints, perceptions, processes and implications. In this context, the conference will highlight the following key issues in relation to the conservation and promotion of heritage values:
  • diversity of approaches in heritage conservation, crossing regions, countries and institutions;
  • creative and sustainable development and responding to the global challenges of international integration;
  • shaping mechanisms for cooperation and the formation of collaborative and sustainable approaches to addressing global challenges;
  • building effective collaboration and international integration between heritage institutions (museums, archives, libraries, etc.);
  • solutions for improving the efficiency of international integration and participation in international conventions;
  • experiences of some countries/organizations in international integration.

Call for papers and posters

Organisers are inviting proposals for papers and posters relevant to the topics outlined above. They will later consider all selected papers for publication in the conference proceedings, with an ISBN index. Papers should have a maximum length of 12 pages and should be submitted by 15 October at the latest.
