Brussels - European Development Days 2018 events on Women and Culture

None

For its twelfth edition (5-6 of June 2018, Brussels),  European Development Days - Europe’s leading forum on development - aims to bring together the European Union's commitment to gender equality and women empowerment with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.  Among the rich programme, an international partnership of organisations have organised two specific events focused on Women and Culture.

Gender equality and women empowerment are at the core of European values and enshrined within the EU's legal and political framework. This is why the event will focus on the vital role of women and the need for their full and equal participation and leadership in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

In the last decades important achievements and analyses have been carried out by various organisations on the role of women in cultural practices and creative expressions, including in developing countries. Building on those analyses and on field case studies, we wish to engage the debate with various stakeholders, including high-level officials, to identify the ground for increased synergies between gender and cultural strategies in development policies. For this purpose we will also draft a joint declaration, including a set of key recommendations.

Those recommendations will be discussed during two events that we will present:
