9th Inclusive Museum Conference: Call for Presenters

9th International Conference on the Inclusive Museum The 9th International Conference on the Inclusive Museum will be held at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, Cincinatti, USA, between 16 and 19 September 2016. Founded in 2008, the International Conference on the Inclusive Museum brings together a community of museum practitioners, researchers and thinkers. The key questions addressed by the conference are "How can the institution of the museum become more inclusive?" and "In this time of fundamental social change, what is the role of the museum, both as a creature of that change, and perhaps also as an agent of change?" The special focus of the 9th International Conference on the Inclusive Museum is "Urbanism, Inclusion and Cultural Freedoms". Organisers of the conference have launched an open call for presenters, aimed at selecting paper presentations, workshops/interactive sessions, posters/exhibits, virtual lightening talks, virtual posters, or colloquia addressing one of the following themes: - Visitors, including visitor diversity in the inclusive museum, defining museum stakeholders and measuring participation, multilingualism, disability access, sponsorship and philanthropy, voluntarism, etc. - Collections, including the changing work of the curator, exhibition didactics, representing social and cultural intangible heritage, arts in the museum, environment in the museum, artifacts, etc. - Representations, including musems as knowledge makers, knowledge management paradigms and practices, digitisation, digital disability access, new literacies, cataloguing, etc. A set of advanced deadlines have been set up to submit proposals. Registration for the conference is also open, with a range of formats available and early bird fees for those registering before 16 December 2015. The International Conference on the Inclusive Museum is built upon four key features: Internationalism, Interdisciplinarity, Inclusiveness, and Interaction. Conference delegates include leaders in the field as well as emerging scholars, who travel to the conference from all corners of the globe and represent a broad range of disciplines and perspectives.
