2015 Children in Museums Award: Call for Applications

The Children in Museums Award is an initiative of the European Museum Academy and Hands On! International Association of Children in Museums to recognise excellence and innovation in exhibits designed for children within the museum sector. Organised annually since 2011, applications for the Children in Museums Award are welcome from children’s museums and from education, children and youth departments in museums and science museums, both long-established and recently opened. The Jury is looking especially for the creative use of exhibitions and programmes with an innovative interpretative approach, which should be meaningful to the relevant age-group.  The Jury will expect proof and examples of the exhibition's innovative approach and aesthetic qualities, open-ended learning programme, and excellence that can be acknowledged by children. An important background consideration for the judges is to see evidence of the ways in which a candidate is likely to change the course of museum thinking or museum practice in these respects, nationally and internationally. Applications should be sent by 1 February 2015. Please bear in mind that applications should be accompanied by an entry fee of 250€, or 200€ in the case of Hands On! International members and those museums which have applied in the past.
