Podcast | What does ‘mobility’ mean in Australia?

In this episode of Opportunities for Mobility & More, ASEF culture360 unpacks the cultural mobility in Australia further with Claire Wilson, the Editor of culture360.ASEF.org and the researcher of the 2025 edition of the Australia Mobility Funding Guide.

Based on key takeaways from the guide, one topic worth mentioning regarding mobility in the Australian context is the challenge of national mobility, especially to and from remote and very remote Australia.

Why is national mobility important? What are some barriers stopping cultural mobility within Australia? What role do short or quick response grants and long-term mobility initiatives play in fostering international collaborations? Is it time to relook at supporting both short and long-term artistic mobility?

Since 2012, ASEF through culture360 has collaborated with On the Move (OTM), the European network for cultural mobility to jointly present the Mobility Funding Guides for International Cultural Exchange for the 51 countries of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM).  We hope that these guides will help you navigate cultural organisations that fund exchanges in and between Asia and Europe.
