Vigeland Museum

The Vigeland Museum is the sculpture museum of Oslo dedicated to Gustav Vigeland. The main responsibilities are to take care of the heritage of Gustav Vigeland and to preserve this for the coming generations. The majority of the Museum's exhibition space is a presentation of Vigeland's oeuvre.

In addition to this, the Museum's ambition is to be the most interesting venue for presenting art within the three dimensional field. Since starting with temporary exhibitions on contemporary and modern art, the Museum has become more focused on this specific kind of art, i.e. sculpture and installation, and video based art. The Museum puts an emphasis on presenting a variety of these artistic expressions.

The Vigeland Park is situated next to the museum. The park, which is the largest in its kind, is open to visitors all year round.
The unique sculpture park is Gustav Vigeland's lifework with more than 200 sculptures in bronze, granite and wrought iron. Vigeland was also in charge of the design and architechtural layout of the park, which was completed between 1939 and 1949.
