SASNET is an inter-disciplinary platform that promotes education, research, and information about the countries of South Asia:
- Sri Lanka
SASNET is also a national open network resource connecting researchers and academics working on projects related to South Asia at universities throughout Sweden and the Nordic countries. Its aim is to initiate, encourage, and support collaboration with South Asian partners, and to promote the exchange of students and researchers between Sweden and South Asia.
- 20–22 May 2015, SASNET organised an international conference on ”South Asia in Transformation: World of Slums, Global Power Houses or Utopias? Migration, labour, and family changes in a dynamic region”.
- On behalf of the European Association of South Asian Studes (EASAS), SASNET hosted the Ninth European PhD workshop in South Asia Studies on 18–19 May 2015.
- SASNET launches the South Asia Media Project, prepared by Swedish journalist Andreas Mattsson and Indian colleague Hindol Sengpta. A network of Indian and Swedish journalists, as well as media researchers will be built up, and workshops held in Sweden and India.
- The South Asian Students Association (SASA), the student body of SASNET provides a platform for students in Lund – coming from both South Asia and other countries – to discuss, exchange and build partnerships relating to South Asian development. Activities include seminars, movie nights, and cultural celebrations.
