Philippine Ballet Theater

The Philippine Ballet Theatre (PBT) was founded in 1987 and has established itself as the pre-eminent classical ballet company in the Philippines today. It was borne out of an alliance of leading dance groups in the 1980s but immediately won recognition as a resident ballet company of the Cultural Center of the Philippines.

The PBT has since evolved and blossomed into an independent performing dance company. Dedicated towards the preservation of ballet and the education of Filipino public to appreciate this disappearing form of art. Intent on dispelling ballet’s image as an “elitist” art, PBT has sought to bring ballet to the Filipino masses. Aside from its season performances at the Cultural Center of the Philippines, it conducts outreach programs to bring its performances to the regions and major cities all over the country.

The company has traveled in national and international tours presenting the best of its Filipino and Western repertoire; highlighting the company's commitment to artistic excellence in the classical, neo-classical and pop-classical traditions.
