In 2014, Leica Camera AG will celebrate the centenary of Leica inventor Oskar Barnack, on this occasion it has doubled the prize money for the Leica Oskar Barnack Award, now accepting entries from photographers aged up to 25 years.

An international jury awards the Leica Oskar Barnack Award to professional photographers whose unerring powers of observation capture and express the relationship between man and the environment in the most graphic form in a sequence of a minimum of 10 up to a maximum of 12 images. To take part, participants must send in a series of photographs taken in 2013 or long-term projects containing at least one photo from 2013. Only one entry per photographer is accepted.

The winner of the “Leica Oskar Barnack Award” receives a Leica M camera and a lens worth 10,000 Euros in addition to a cash prize of 10,000 Euros.

The competition “Leica Oskar Barnack Newcomer Award” is open to all (prospective) photographers who are aged 25 years and under. The winner of the Leica Oskar Barnack Newcomer Award receives a Leica rangefinder camera and a lens worth 10,000 Euros and a cash prize of 5,000 Euros.

All entries for the Leica Oskar Barnack Award 2014 must be made via the online Application Form between 15th December and January 31, 2014

All digital images prepared for uploading must be 1200 pixels high. The width of the image is variable in proportion. You will find further details in this PDF Document.

For the first time, there will be a prize presented in a third category – the Leica Oskar Barnack Public Award. The winner of this category will be determined from a shortlist of candidates selected by the jury in an online vote organized in collaboration with www.i-shot-it.com, a platform for photographic competitions. The winner will receive a cash prize of 2,500 Euros.
