International Playwriting Competition | plays for young performers and audiences

The 2013-14 International Playwriting Competition, run by Trinity College London, is open for entries. Now in its 4th year, the competition is open to writers of any age, any level of experience and from any country. It aims to encourage new writing for young performers and audiences around the world.

The winning playwrights in each category are awarded cash prizes of £1,000 and will travel to London to see their play performed as part of Trinity’s International Festival of Playwriting & Performance.

Previous prize winners have come from Australia, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Malta, Singapore, South Africa and the UK.

There are two categories for entries:

Plays for Young Performers
One-act plays suitable for performers aged 11 years and under.

Plays for Teenage Audiences
One-act plays suitable for audiences aged between 12 and 16 years.

Deadline for entries: 13 December 2013

The best plays entered in the competition will be published in a collection of plays with international distribution.

Trinity College London encourages creativity and participation in the arts for people of all ages and all levels. Now in its fourth year, the International Playwriting Competition aims to encourage new writing for young performers and audiences around the world to engage with – in classrooms, drama clubs, youth theatre groups and more.
