Creative New Zealand is offering funding through the new Asia / New Zealand Co-Commissioning Fund to support the commissioning of New Zealand work (new, high quality artistic works) to be presented in both New Zealand and in Asia.

Creative New Zealand has recently launched the Focus on Asia programme, a new initiative which aims to build stronger artistic and cultural connections with North East Asia over the next three years. As part of this initiative, Creative New Zealand is offering funding support through the Asia/ New Zealand Co-Commissioning Fund and we are calling for applications to the first funding round.

Costs relating to the creation of new work will be eligible, not presentation costs. Eligible costs include artists' fees, research and development, materials, rehearsals and more.

The work should be suitable for domestic and international audiences and presented by July 2017. Applicants must meet our general eligibilty criteria and have a track record of delivering high quality work.

Applicants must have presenting partners in New Zealand and in at least one of the following territories: China, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan or Singapore. Priority will be given to projects where the presenting partners are also investing in the development of the new work.

Applications close:  Monday 20 October 2014, 5.00pm.

Next funding round deadline is 18 May 2015

The Asia/ New Zealand Co-Commissioning Fund supports projects between New Zealand and Asian artists and arts organisations that:
