Italy | Mittelyoung 2024 for theatre, dance, music and circus projects

Mittelyoung 2024 is calling for applications of theatre, dance, music and circus projects from artists, companies and collectives under 30 from parts of Europe, Central Europe and the Balkans.

In its fourth edition, mittelyoung is an event by and for young people. The festival is based on an open call for projects from parts of Europe, Central-Europe and the Balkans, examined by a group of under 30 curators.

Among the applications submitted, under the coordination of Mittelfest artistic direction, the group of curators will select 9 projects (2 theatre, 2 music, 2 dance, 2 circus and one project that may belong to one of the above categories) to be showcased and from 16 to 18 July 2024 in Cividale del Friuli, in northeast Italy.

A further 3 shows will be re-scheduled during mittelfest Disordini (Disorders) from 20 to 22 July 2024.

The call is open to:

• ensembles/companies of artists under the age of 30
• individual artists under the age of 30

Ensembles/companies may have up to 6 members and artists and ensembles/companies must be based in one of the following countries: Albania, Austria, Belgium, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, North Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Netherlands, Poland, Czech Republic, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland, and Ukraine.

The projects submitted must be in line with the theme of the mittelfest 2024 edition: Disordini (Disorders). 

Support provided

Associazione Mittelfest will grant to each selected project (stage 1) support of up to 4,000 EUR, which will be calculated on the basis of the number of people involved and the type of performance, including all social security and tax charges by law, as well as return travel and accommodation expenses. 

Each project passing this second selection will be granted at least the same financial support allocated in stage 1.
