Chopin in Singapore: Photography competition

None
Applications are invited for a photography competition in honour of the 200th birth anniversary of the famous Polish composer Chopin, organised by The Embassy of the Republic of Poland, Halina & Miroslaw Pienkowski, the Photographic Society of Singapore and the Botanical Gardens, Singapore.

2010 is the 200th birth anniversary of Chopin and his cultural legacy will be celebrated throughout the world as the Year of Chopin. Singapore is no exception and a number of Chopin events will take place in the culturally rich city. The unveiling of the Chopin monument in the Botanical Gardens in 2008 marked a pivotal event in the Singapore-Polish cultural exchange and with the Photography competition these efforts will be strengthened by combining the passion of Singaporeans to be creative photographers and the music of Poland’s most distinguished composer, Chopin.

The theme is to “capture in a scene in Singapore the colourful emotions Chopin’s music evokes in its listeners”

The award ceremony will be held at the Botanical Gardens, next to the Chopin monument, on the 7th August 2010 in conjunction with a concert of Chopin’s music.
