Singapore | CCA Talks at Art Stage

None In conjunction with Art Stage Singapore, the Centre for Contemporary Art (CCA) presents CCA Talks at Art Stage, which features an exciting array of artists, curators, writers, academics and other art world personalities, dedicated to discourse on Asia's visual arts landscape. The CCA is devoted to advancing knowledge in contemporary art through education, research, exhibition and artist-in-residence programmes. Scheduled to open later in 2013 at the new Gillman Barracks art precinct, the CCA aims to bolster Asia’s visual arts landscape through creation, presentation and interpretation of contemporary art, while fostering research, discourse and cultural exchange. CCA Talks at Art Stage will be held at the Marina Bay Sands Seminar Rooms 3D-F, Level 3, and organised around three platforms:
  • Friends with Disagreements
Ideally, friends are the people with whom we have our most honest conversations. Friends share references and experiences which provide the basis for a deep sympathy, which, in turn, allows for the most substantial tests of understanding, not only about general attitudes but also specific cases. As friends, the speakers share perspectives and may form a consensus, but they also have disagreements. And it is often through these disagreements where art professionals sharpen and develop their ideas and arguments. Speakers include: Joan Kee, Kevin Chua, John Phillips, Tony Wilson, Chus Martínez, Ingo Niermann and Ute Meta Bauer and more
  • The Short Forum
The Short Forum is a series of short and sharp panel discussions on some of the more pressing topics concerning contemporary art in Asia. Speakers include: Uli Sigg, Budi Tek, Lekha Poddar, Wim Delvoye, Arne Quinze, Fumio Nanjo, Hammad Nasar, Russell Storer, Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Patrick D Flores, Thomas Berghuis, Adele Tan, and more.
  • Art 101
Art 101 features three outreach projects: the Tour, FAQs, and the Experiment. The CCA is a national research centre of Nanyang Technological University (NTU), in collaboration with the Economic Development Board (EDB), Singapore.
