ASEAN Media Portal

The ASEAN Media Portal was first launched by then ASEAN Secretary-General, Mr Ong Keng Yong, and witnessed by Singapore’s Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts, Dr Lee Boon Yang on 17 November 2007 in Singapore in conjunction with 13th ASEAN Summit and to celebrate ASEAN’s 40th Anniversary.

Hosting new and archived multimedia clips on news, documentaries, culture, arts, heritage and tourism information of its 10 member countries, the ASEAN Media Portal (www.aseanmedia.net) provides a window to the rich and diverse cultures of the region. Lending an industry focus to the ASEAN Media Portal is a catalogue of commercial media content across the genres of television, films, animation and games, as well as a listing of ASEAN broadcasters and producers.

The ASEAN Media Portal is a project of the ASEAN Committee on Culture and Information and developed by the Media Development Authority of Singapore. Coordinated by the ASEAN Secretariat, the content on the ASEAN Media Portal is contributed and will be regularly updated by all ASEAN member states. Since its launch, the Portal has been updated with new content especially from students who submit videoclips about their lives.

The ASEAN Media Portal is relaunched on 10 November 2010 at the 44th ASEAN Committee on Culture Meeting in Singapore. To ensure that the Portal remains relevant to the peoples of ASEAN, it will have improved functionality to make it easier for members of the public to unload content and allow each country administrator to manage the content received from their country. From an inside look at the daily lives of the people living in and around South East Asia, to the arts and cultural happenings in and around the region, ASEAN MEDIA Portal is the one-stop portal where users can learn and be entertained. The Portal also demonstrates ASEAN’s collective media capability and doubles up as a gateway to the region’s vibrant media industry.
