Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum

Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum is the memorial site of the S-21 interrogation and detention centre of the Khmer Rouge regime. Located in the heart of Phnom Penh, it preserves evidence of a tragic period in the history of Cambodia, with the aim of encouraging visitors to be messengers of peace.

The Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum is a living museum and serves as a source of primary materials for researchers. Research can be for Cambodians searching for their missing loved ones, for children and youth eager to learn about the Khmer Rouge period, or for academic researchers wishing to know more about this terrible period of recent history. The museum aims to promote peace in the hope that the crimes of the Khmer Rouge period are not repeated. Visitors are encouraged to use the resources of the museum. Currently, the museum has 3 main programs: education, outreach programme, and training.
