ICHCAP Cultural Partnership Initiative 2019: Call Now Open

The International Information and Networking Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region under the auspices of UNESCO (ICHCAP) has launched the 2019 call of its Cultural Partnership Initiative (CPI) Program. The programme will enable six young professionals in the area of intangible cultural heritage (ICH) from the Asia-Pacific region to spend a five-month residential period in Korea from July to November 2019, with the aim of promoting bilateral cultural exchanges through Korean cultural experiences and specialised training.

What does the program involve?

ICHCAP’s CPI Program is focused on building a long-term expert network to share information in the Asia-Pacific region and use the network for safeguarding ICH. ICHCAP plans to enhance communication with domestic and/or international ICH organisations and NGOs to expand opportunities for cooperation through various means that involve participants conducting intensive study, participating in ICH practices, and delivering a mutual exchange for information. In this context, ICHCAP welcomes the participation of six ICH professionals of the Asia-Pacific region. The six selected participants will have an opportunity to engage in an international cooperation project and carry out an individual research project related to using ICH information and enhancing network building. In addition, the participants will be able to strengthen their capacity through field trips to ICH-related organizations in the Republic of Korea and lectures. Additional programs include cultural workshops and a Korean language course. This year’s CPI Program is under the support of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea (MCST) and the CPI Secretariat (Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange) with ICHCAP as an operating organisation. Since 2012, ICHCAP has operated the program to contribute to enhancing expert networks for ICH information sharing in the Asia-Pacific region while also seeking opportunities to create relationships for long-term project partners.
