Far East Film Festival, organised by Centro Espressioni Cinematografische, started in 1983 as Udineincontri Cinema and the focus on far east cinema remained since 1998. The festival's main objective is to showcase "popular cinema" from Asia and also since 2003 selected retrospectives. In 2011, the Lifetime Achievement Award: the Gelso d’Oro (Golden Mulberry) was introduced.
