Ladakh International Film Festival (LIFF) is inviting film entries for its 2013 event. Hosted at 13,500 feet above the sea level, LIFF is the highest altitude film festival of the world. The festival aims at drawing attention to the ecological and environmental balance of Ladakh, as well as making it a melting point for cross cultural cinematic experience. The Competition section of LIFF invites feature films, short films, animations as well as documentaries produced world wide, between 1st April 2011 and 1st April 2013. The festival accepts films premiered in other festivals but not those which have been released theatrically, via satellite or internet. The festival is organized by Monassé, an event management company which operates globally. The chairman of the festival is renowned film maker Shyam Benegal. The mascot of LIFF is the Snow Leopard, one of the most majestic and endangered species of the Ladakh, often referred to as 'The Roof of the World.' LIFF will also host a special Ladakh Section, showcasing the work of Ladkhis and promoting films made on Ladakh.
