Wanted: extra-short movies!

VGF Nippon in Motion, a collaboration with Frankfurt’s transportation association VGF, looks out for films with a maximum length of 12 seconds. All films should work without sound and focus on the topic “Nippon in Motion”. The best film will be awarded with € 250. The three best films will be shown on the infoscreens in Frankfurt’s subway stations and at Nippon Connection 2012.

Terms of participation:

1. The movie must not be longer than 12 seconds (!).

2. The movie has to be comprehensible without sound.

3. The topic of the competition "Nippon in Motion” must be referred to in the movie.

4. Submission of the movie via email or through here.

Technical requirements:

Display resolution: width × height: 1024 × 768 pixels (aspect ratio 4:3), RGB color model

Accepted file formats for the screening:

AVI: 25 fps, 24 bit, uncompressed

Quicktime: 25 fps, 24 bit, uncompressed

As Apple codecs aren’t always available cross-platform, Quicktime files must always be exported without a codec (including loss-free codecs).

Selection and award ceremony:

After the deadline for submission, a selection committee will choose 20 movies from all submissions. This selection will be uploaded to the Nippon Connection site. Visitors of the website will rate the movies and elect a winner. During the award ceremony at the 12th Nippon Connection Filmfestival on May 6, 2012, the winner will receive 250 € (sponsored by VGF - Stadtwerke Verkehrsgesellschaft Frankfurt am Main). In addition, the three best movies will be shown on the infoscreens of the Frankfurt subway for ca. two weeks in April 2012.
