Artists' workspaces in the Fo Tan neighborhood of Hong Kong are open during a week-end as part of the Fotanian Open Studios Festival. 80 studios and more than 300 artists are participating this year. This festival has been taking place each year since 2003. The former meatpacking and textile storage facilities were re-purposed and transformed into art studios, showrooms and boutiques, attracting many creative individuals to work in the area since the past decade. [caption id="attachment_18496" align="alignnone" width="468" caption="The Fo Tan industrial district where creativity has been flourishing"][/caption] The exhibitions encompasse a wide array of media, including paintings, sculptures, ceramics, mixed media, printmaking, installations, photographic and video works. Visitors can freely explore the artists' workplace and hear about their artworks and art-making techniques. To foster sharing and exchange of ideas, visitors are also encouraged to engage in friendly dialogues with the artists in an open atmosphere. Among the highlights this year are the Blue Lotus Gallery, and Junk Wood Sculpture. The festival has been co-organized with the Jockey Club Creative Arts Centre (JCCAC), an art and creative incubator established in 2008. Images: Junk Wood Sculptures and Shift
