6th International Mountmakers Forum | United Kingdom

The 6th International Mountmakers Forum will be held in London on 25-27 September 2018 and hosted by the Natural History Museum, an ASEMUS member. It marks the 10th anniversary of the Mountmakers Forum. The first of its kind to be held in Europe the Forum will consist of talks, poster sessions, discussion groups, workshops and exhibition tours focused on all aspects of mount making. The conference programme is arranged across three days. The first two days take place in South Kensington in London, with sessions involving speakers from the UK, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, the Netherlands, and the US. In addition to the Natural History Museum, several other ASEMUS members, including Weltmuseum Wien, Austria; and the National Museum of World Cultures, the Netherlands, will be represented. The third day consists of a choice of museum and studio tours in London and Oxford. The event is open to all museum professionals and will be of particular interest to mountmakers and those involved in exhibition development. Mountmakers are responsible for the creation of structures called 'object mounts', which are used to provide unobtrusive physical support, stability and security of objects while on display, in storage or being transported to museums, art galleries, libraries, archives, botanical gardens or other cultural institutions.
