ArtsEquator | Platform for Southeast Asia arts practices
ArtsEquator Ltd is an arts media company that values and promotes Southeast Asian regional arts practice. It is committed to developing arts writing and criticism which identify Southeast Asian creative practices as part of, rather than adjunct to, global contemporary arts.
Its platforms are largely digitally based and draws from an ever expanding pool of contributing writers from Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Japan, Australia and the Philippines for its original content.
ArtsEquator.com includes reviews, podcasts, interviews, essays, news and listings. It also aggregates arts and culture news from other publications, creating a one-stop platform for news and views on Southeast Asian arts practice.
In its efforts to develop the capability of arts writers and arts critics in the region, ArtsEquator Ltd also organises workshops, forums, conferences, symposiums, competitions and dialogues in collaboration with other arts organisations.
ArtsEquator Ltd was founded in 2016 by Kathy Rowland and Jenny Daneels who also co-founded the critically praised Malaysian arts portal, Kakiseni in 2001 and established the BOH Cameroonian Art Awards, now in its 13th year. Jenny and Kathy sold Kakiseni to a new team in 2010 and in November 2016, launched their latest project - ArtsEquator.
