European Institute of Cultural Routes

The European Institute of Cultural Routes has been installed in Luxembourg since 1997 and, since 1998, it has been in charge with ensuring not only the continuity but also the development of the cultural routes programme of the Council of Europe. The Institute is at the same time a European public service and a technical agency, which prepares, assembles and produces exhibitions and publishes and co-publishes multimedia works or products.

The European Institute of Cultural Routes gives technical advice to candidate networks to the “Cultural Route of the Council of Europe” certification. Its longstanding expertise enables to provide advice and recommendations relating to Cultural Route methodology, programme of activities, legal framework for the networks, governance, themes in order to prepare the application file for the evaluation cycles. The European Institute of Cultural Routes also regularly leads or takes part in European funded projects on the theme of cultural heritage management and promotion, cultural tourism, management of Cultural Routes, and more.
