Casa Asia calls for applications under the Ruy de Clavijo Grants Programme 2012 for research projects and cultural cooperation between Spain and Asia and the Pacific region.

The object of the call is to award seven grants of 6.000 euros to research projects and cultural cooperation with Asia and the Pacific region for the year 2012. The call is open to Spanish citizens or members of the European Union with residence in Spain, as well as to Asian and Latin American citizens.

To qualify for this scholarship the applicant must meet the following requirements:

a) To be researchers, scholars, educators, artists, journalists, professionals or from other fields and institutions (foundations, associations, etc.) successfully proving their competence to carry out the project for this call.

b) The age of the candidates cannot exceed 40 years.

c) To be Spanish national or have the nationality of a European Community country, a Latin American country or an Asia and Pacific country (specified in section seven). Candidates from Asia and Pacific countries must submit joint applications with a Spanish citizen.

d) To submit a project which must be developed during the time specified by the fellowship (year 2012). The result of the project must have a clear or practical end, such as an exhibit, a cultural event, a book, etc., which Casa Asia may publicize.

Selection criteria
a) Projects in the field of international relations, economy, culture, development cooperation and media that promotes mutual understanding and relations between Spain and Asia Pacific will be highly valued.

b) Projects that enable the exchange of human resources and strengthen institutional relations between Spain and Asia will have a preference.

c) Projects presented jointly by a Spanish or European researcher or artist and a researcher or artist of a country in Asia-Pacific will have profound support.

d) The project should benefit activities that contribute to the knowledge of Asia in Spain, such as conferences, courses, exhibitions, artistic representations, development of teaching materials or publications.
