India Foundation for the Arts (IFA), Bangalore is looking for a Programme Executive, Extending Arts Practice and Curatorship.

About IFA

IFA makes grants nationwide under various programmes: arts research and documentation, arts education, extending arts practice, new performance, curatorship and special grants.

Responsibilities of the Programme Executive, Extending Arts Practice & Curatorship

The successful candidate will hold responsibility for both IFA’s Extending Arts Practice programme and the Curatorship programme. The Extending Arts Practice programme makes grants to help artists and arts groups to extend their own practice or challenge prevalent practices within their fields. The Curatorship programme administers projects critically study and energies curatorial theory and practice in visual arts and cinema.

The successful candidate will share responsibility with other programme staff to develop grant-making policies and strategies, review proposals, and monitor and evaluate grants. He or she may be expected to take on wider institutional responsibilities in time.

The position will be based in Bangalore, and will entail considerable travel in India.

The successful candidate will be appointed for five years on a contractual basis. The compensation package will be in the scale of Rs 6 to 8 lakh annually.

Eligibility for Programme Executive, Extending Arts Practice & Curatorship

Applicants should be mature professionals with 10 or more years of experience of teaching, research, arts practice or managing programmes in the arts or humanities in India. They should be conversant with current issues and activities in the arts, particularly in the areas of emerging arts practice and curatorship. They should demonstrate ideational ability, potential for leadership, a good sense of strategy, financial management skills, and be able to network and represent the organisation in different forums. They should be good writers and public communicators.
