Open international call for proposals and artworks in various arts disciplines for OpenART 2017, Scandinavia’s biggest public art biennial, running for 12 weeks in Örebro, Sweden. Contemporary art from all over the world is temporarily exhibited in mainly outdoor, urban spaces, transforming the city center into a giant exhibition.

OpenART is a unique event that turns the city upside down emphasizing bold expressions in the cityscape. We welcome professional artists in all stages of their career and in various disciplines to apply, with fully developed artworks, projects in the making and new ideas.

You, as a participating artist, have a great opportunity to show your work for a large audience in a city which is temporarily transformed into a huge outdoor art arena. OpenART also offers an exciting showcasing platform that engages traditional and social media internationally.

An international jury will select a number of applying artists to be invited to exhibit at OpenART 2017. Confirmed artists will receive an artist fee of €1000, transport, travel and accommodation support and become a part of a fun and hectic production/installation process together with the other artists of OpenART. The artist carries the responsibility for its own installation. OpenART is present with additional support through the whole process. The selection criteria is simple – we are looking for great artworks, projects in the making and new ideas.

OpenART wants to exhibit a wide range of art mediums and techniques. Most of the art will be placed outdoors, available for public interaction day and night during the exhibition period. This requires the art to be made out of durable materials. OpenART targets an audience which aren’t usually in contact with art and therefore have another curiosity and respect level towards it.
