Calling aspiring filmmakers in Southeast Asia! JumpCut Asia - Discovery Channel’s giving you the chance to produce and share your very own film with the world. If you’re an up and coming filmmaker from the region, we want you to submit original ideas for factual films capturing the heart and soul of this part of the world. Share it with us and you may just see it come to life.

Our Pitch for you to Pitch

JumpCut Asia aims to take viewers across our dynamic region, with compelling stories told in fresh and creative ways by Asia’s next wave of filmmakers.

The topic of the films will run the range of all that’s real and factual–from wildlife to culture to art to science. Your storytelling techniques and style must be fresh. Think outside using the tired ‘voice of god’ narration or black and white archives for the sake of lazy exposition.

How can you tell old stories in an unexpected way? How can you tell new stories that will stand the test of time? The global impact that social and digital media has on our art-form must be apparent in your ideas.

What’s in it for you?

Shortlisted finalists will be invited for a creative workshop in Singapore helmed by industry experts, with masterclasses in story-telling, production and budgeting.

Of the finalists, a select group will be chosen to pitch on the Final Day. Winners from that pitch will go on to produce their own 12-15 minute short film.

Discovery Channel will provide full funding, production guidance and oversight. Final films will premiere on Discovery Channel and our digital platform partners.

From Southeast Asia to the World

This is a unique opportunity for Southeast Asian filmmakers to gain exposure through hands-on training and professional development from industry leaders.

This is your chance to share quirky and wonderful stories from Southeast Asia to a global audience.

If Southeast Asia is a place you call home, we want to hear your stories. So run wild; get creative with your storytelling!
