walk21hk Walk21 Hong Kong, the first Walk21 international conference in Asia and the 17th in the series, will be held in Hong Kong 3-7 October 2016. The motto of this conference is "Walking puts people first", with themes exploring design and policy issues to create liveable sustainable cities. A photo contest on the theme of Mobility is organised. Walk21 - Bringing High-density Asian & International Cities Together Walk21 Hong Kong will bring together the policy makers, business leaders, professionals, and community opinion leaders who drive such strategies from different, fast-growing, high-density cities in Asia and all over the world. The conference will promote the recognition of best practices through sharing of experiences, discussion and networking. logo (1)FOUR CONFERENCE THEMES: 1. Walking Between Layers: creating a walkable environment in vertical cities 2. Walking with Multiple Benefits: creating an age-friendly, socially inclusive, safe, low-carbon and resilient environment 3. Walking Smart: using information and technology to enhance walking 4. Walking Together: nurturing partnerships and dialogue among policy makers, business leaders, local communities and stakeholders Among the side events:  Organised by WYNG Foundation, the WYNG Masters Award (WMA) Open Photo Contest engages the public at large on social issues by inviting them to submit photographs and discuss the subject in real time. The theme for their 2016/17 cycle will be “Mobility”, and the contest will open to entries in June and July 2016. Winners of the contest will be announced in September/October 2016, and winning photographers will have their awards presented at the Walk21 HK Conference, with the winning entries displayed at the conference venue (subject to confirmation with WYNG Foundation).
