The arts festival SALT is a cultural platform in a remote part of northern Norway promoting unique installations, music, and a collection of architectural structures- one being the world’s largest sauna.  The festival site is open with various events over the summer. The SALT festival was launched in summer 2014 and is distinctively located on the beach of the small island of Sandhornøya in an isolated part of northern Norway. At SALT this summer, visitors can enjoy various cultural events, including the specially commissioned Yang Fudong film, premiered at the festival in 2014, music and food, all set within top environmental art and design in an exceptional natural location. Set within a timber A-frame, with a bar included, the ‘agora’ sauna provide visitors with warmth, a place for social exchange and complemented with an ambient background soundtrack. Referencing traditional Norwegian fish racks, the rising, stepped amphitheatre seating can accommodate over 100 people at once and simultaneously, overlooks the white sand beach while framing the mountains and clear waters. On the island of Sandhornøy, Chinese artist Yang Fudong created an exceptional site specific film installation for the beach titled “The Light That I Feel” in 2014.
