Poetic places in Asia|INSITU in Singapore

None
INSITU is a series of travelogues of artists mapping poetic places in Asia. For every edition, a group of artists are physically brought onto a place to observe, perceive and experience. In a satellite-view world where countries can be zoomed out into dots, INSITU seeks to encounter places at 1:1 scale. The artists’ in situ experiences are then made into original artworks that are performed, exhibited and compiled into an artist book. INSITU presents the artist Kangding ray in Singapore at Fort Canning Hill, featuring his original compositions/ aural maps of the enigmatic site. See Kangding ray live performance only for 1 night in the Esplanade Recital Studio on 14 May 2011.  It will be a night of cutting-edge aural x visual performance, integrating visual and textual maps by Taisuke Koyama, Boedi Widjaja and June Yap. The Wire magazine named Kangding ray’s latest electronica album as top 15 in 2010. Boomkat describes his music as 'vehemently experimental' and 'extremely accessible’. As for Koyama, he was described as one of ‘Japan’s foremost creative minds’, and named the world’s top 18 photographers by  Amsterdam-based Foam in 2009. Conceived by the art practice Beautiful / Banal, the project is supported by National Heritage Board an in association program of the Singapore Arts Festival.
