On 7 November 2012, the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) will take part in the Singapore Writers Festival (SWF) to present 4 publications from the Lingua Comica project, as tangible results of a creative collaboration between 64 Asian and European comic artists from 22 countries.

Since 2006, the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) initiated a series of exchanges in the field of comics and graphic novels, including a variety of workshops in Singapore (2006), London (2007) and Kyoto (2008) that were attended by over 50 artists and other professionals from the two regions.

The idea behind the Lingua Comica programme is to promote new relationships between Asian and European creativity, by connecting comic artists and novel writers, as well as commercial publishers and book designers of different backgrounds and generations.

Between 2006 and 2010, each Lingua Comica project placed dialogue and joint production at the core of these encounters, and encouraged new patterns for artistic collaboration that were inspired by a variety of shared themes: economy and society, travel and migration, legend and mythology, and others.

The results of these bi-regional efforts, which have been promoted through different partners of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), are now showcased in a series of colourful books entitled: Go Home (2008), Lingua Comica Graphic Novels from Asia and Europe (2009), Lingua Comica FUSE (2011) and Lingua Comica RELOADED (2011).

The books presentation at the Singapore Writers Festival will be followed by a panel discussion and screening session in presence of 2 artists, from Malaysia and Singapore, previously involved in the project.

The public will be most welcome to join the discussions at a Q&A session, followed by a free give-away and book signing at Festival Pavilion Campus Green, Singapore Management University (SMU).
