Hong Kong Photographic Culture Association presents the Hong Kong International Photo Festival 2012, which is held throughout October and November with the theme “From Like to Love, Live in Photography”. Involving more than 60 activities, 200 local and international photographers and 40 organizations, the spectacular festival is expected to attract more than 300,000 participants from the public. This year’s Photo Festival features six thematic exhibitions. To encourage photo-taking in the city, there will also be an array of activities that target young photographers and the public, for instance, a photo contest on facebook, workshops regarding meteorology, handy photography, ruins photography and wet plate photography, etc. There will also be six collaborative exhibitions that will be featured at the photo festival. The Hong Kong Photographic Culture Association was founded by 19 renowned photographers of different generations in Hong Kong with an aim to provide an exchange and sharing platform for creative ideas, technical knowledge and valuable experience in photography. Our objective is to foster the art and culture of photography in Hong Kong, and thereby promoting Hong Kong as a creative hub in Asia. To this end, we organize the Hong Kong International Photo Festival on a biennial basis, to engage the community in an array of exciting events throughout the territory.
