The objectives of the Vienna Film Fund are strengthening and consolidating Vienna as a city of film and audiovisual media in international media and also saving the cultural diversity of Europe. Therefore it is essential for the Vienna Film Fund to help subsidize culture, economy and employment in the film industry of Vienna, Austria and all of Europe. It is also an important assignment of the fund to promote the Austrian Film.

Budget and kinds of subsidising
2010 the council of the city of Vienna finances the Vienna Film Fund budget of approximately 11.5 million euros. The institution gives subsidies to film-makers in different phases of production: project-development (including script-writing), production, distribution and taking part in film festivals.
