Tokyo Zokei University was founded by Yoko Kuwasawa in 1966. Tokyo Zokei University is the first higher educational institution in Japan to use the term "zokei". The term "zokei"is intended to declare a viewpoint for the production and the presentation of art and design that are more related to the activities of society,instead of regarding them only as visual forms and expressions. The university aims to develop creative and innovative human resources who have a broad view of the areas of art and design,and play their roles as producers of objects.
