The Austrian Filmmakers Association brings together the interest groups representing Austrian filmmakers. A total of 9 professional groups are organised within the Association. The Association provides a joint platform for addressing concerns and aims connected with film. It represents these concerns and aims in dealings with politicians, the media and administration by actively exerting influence on all decision-making processes relevant to the interests and activities of its members.

All of the Association’s activities are carried out on an unpaid basis by the 18 board members of the Association. The Association is a member of the Austrian Cultural Council, which is represented on a European level in the European Council of Artists. It also endeavours to cross-link the interests of European filmmakers.
