We Offer: Hello this is Richard, Julia and Anne representing South Tyneside situated in the North East of England. We are part of a City Library initiative to engage the local Bangladeshi Community and create an illustrated traditional tale as an I-Pad app that can be shared with all children via libraries across the north east of England. We would like to build on our growing relationship with the Bangladeshi community by organising a Storytelling Festival to take place in the summer of 2015 at indoor and outdoor venues. We are presently forging links with Tamarind Theatre Company Directed by Rez Kamir based in London and would very much like to find a cultural partner organisation based in Bangladesh, to work with us and enable Bangladeshi Puppeteers to travel to South Tyneside and perform. Our festival will aim to use ‘story’ to explore commonalities and celebrate differences, thereby promoting co-operation and understanding between our two communities.

We Seek: Our ‘Reading the Way’ project aims to identify exceptionally accessible and/or inclusive books from around the world and bring them to the UK to be assessed by schools, families, disability organisations and publishers. It’s hoped that the project will result in a list of international examples of best practice, and perhaps even the UK publication of one or more of the titles.
