What is AAC?
Awaji Art Circus (AAC) is an international performing arts festival held annually since 2015 which is based in Awaji Island, considered as the Island of Japan’s Origin. Artists gather on Awaji Island from around the world and perform for about one month at multiple venues, schools and local events on the Island, as well as enjoy the history and nature of Awaji Island, experience its traditional culture and share the appeal of Awaji Island and Japan with the world.

September 30, 2017 (Sat) ~ November 5, 2017 (Sun) : Performance period
November 6, 2017 (Mon) ~ November 7, 2017 (Tue) : Discussion, leaving preparation
*In principle, two days off per week
*Five days a week for AAC.
**Around twice a week for related events
***As a standard, performance frequency will be around three times a day (excluding days off) and duration of each performance shall be 20-30 minutes (it may verify depending on the event and location environment). Exceptions may be allowed upon consideration by the organizer of AAC (hereinafter referred to as the Organizer).
B) Write on online media such as SNS, blog etc. to let the world know the appeal of AAC/Awaji Island/Japan! (daily). *This task is also very important one and the Organizer will check its completion.
C) Proactively participate in Japanese cultural experience programs and exchange events (once or twice a week including on days off). Artists will have an opportunity to choose a program to learn and experience Japanese performing art deeply. (Japanese dances, musical instruments koto and wadaiko etc.)
D) Collaborate with local artists and school students to create joint performance to be presented at the end of the Festival.
<Recruiting number of artists> 30
<Support provided by the Organizer>
A ) Performance fee: 200,000 yen (after tax) for the whole period (the sum will be divided and paid in cash at the beginning and at the end of the period).
*Per person in case of a group
B ) Transportation cost: up to 100,000 yen for two-way air ticket from your nearest airport to Kansai International Airport (will be paid based on the ticket provided).
C ) Meal: Breakfast and dinner will be provided in buffet style. Other meals shall be individually prepared by the artist. (if the artists is not satisfied with the meals provided he/she should cook by himself/herself).
D ) Accommodation (facility with natural surroundings designated by the Organizer) *rooms for 2-3 people
E ) Support staff
F ) Traveler’s insurance
<Conditions of Participation>
A) NOT to be a participant of 2015 and 2016 years. (Previous AAC participants can’t apply, but we accept application from other group members).
B) All genres of performing arts
C) Non-Japanese citizens only
D) Over 18 years old.
E) Both professionals/amateurs, groups (participating member shall be three maximum) and individuals,
F) Artists who can adjust their performance to suit any performance venue.
G) Artists who are willing to write about Awaji Island as well as their everyday experience and performance etc. on blog, SNS etc. daily
Applications must arrive by April 30, 2017 (Sun).
*Please note applications will not be accepted after the deadline under any circumstances.

*Video uploaded online (YouTube, Vimeo etc.) Alternatively, please send your video via filesharing service such as WeTransfer. Please DO NOT send as an attachment to an email.
*One facial photo and 3~5 performance photos (must be 1 MB or more). Please also send via filesharing service.
*Please note that artists who fail to attach the link with video in their applications will not be eligible for selection.
